Shirley Weiner

Ms. Weiner has lived in Port Jefferson since 1975. After raising four children she earned a Master of Social Work degree at Stony Brook University and then worked for fifteen years at Stony Brook Hospital. Upon retiring she returned to a life-long interest in drawing and painting. Her favorite medium is watercolor. Her favorite subjects are still life, people, floral and landscapes. She has studied at the Brooklyn Museum, De Cordova Museum in Massachusetts, National Academy of Design in New York and at the Huntington Art League. She has also studied with Adelaide Silkworth, who gave instruction in watercolors for many years. Her work has been exhibited in galleries across Long Island and several pieces are held in private collections.
